It started out with Mark and I talking about how much we liked Corvettes and how we would like to own one some day ( at the time be both had Mustangs, very nice ones at that ! ). I guess it's just that manly thing about "the grass is always greener in the other car" thing. All our friends and our wives know how dangerous and expensive mine and Mark's talks can be. That's how we endend up with motorcycles, and then with Mustangs, and now me with..... a Corvette. So there I was sitting in my garage looking at all my motorcycle ride pics I have up on the wall and then looking over at my motorcycle thinking, "Wow what a nice bike, that bike is me" ! And then just to the right of my motorcycle was my TRUCK. It was a nice truck... a Ford Ranger. It looked good, was in great shape, it was painted red ( thank god ! That was the only part of the truck that was me.. the red paint! ). Well there an
d then I decided it had to go. I had always been a lover of fine cars and the truck was just not cutting it. But how was I going to get this one passed Karen ( my wife... loving , understanding wife I should add ! ) Then the idea came to me; I'll tell her there just isn't enough room in the truck to put things in it. I know what you're thinking, but it worked. So I started to look for a new car. Believe it or not I found this one on Ebay. The price was good. It looked good in the pics. I had the car checked out... It checked out fine, but before I could bid I had to tell Karen. I know what you're thinking; How did I get that one passed her. Well I never told her or anyone I needed a lot more room... Just a little more room that's all. And the Corvette fit the bill. WOO HOO! I got the ok, I won the bid, and off I was to get my Vette. I called Mark ( who had no idea I had even sold my truck or that I was looking for a car ). I wanted to surprise Mark so I just asked him if he would help me drive a car up from Houston. Well I couldn't hold it... I told him it was a VETTE. He was excited too. So, we both went off to pick up the car.
Here I am driving the Corvette on the way home from Houston. You can see my very relaxed driving style with that... "I'm bad" smile on my face.
Mark on the other hand had that... "Oh my god I'm driving a Corvette, please don't hit me, please don't hit me" driving style.
But as you can see, he soon relaxed. A little bit too much I think.... Dude, look where you're going. What is it about all my friends, they just don't look where they're going. LOOK ELIO, IT DRIVES BY ITSELF!
You guessed it. You know there had to be a HOOTERS involved in the ride. Why do you think I bought the car in Houston. This was at one of Houston's HOOTERS. Ok, now I have a Vette and it's full of HOOTERS girls ( WOO HOO , LIFE IS GOOD ).
Mark and I with our waitress. Yes, it was a good day.
We stopped for a driver change, a pit stop, and a few pics
As you can see we had a great time! Lets just hope Mark dosen't try this no hands thing why'll he's driving.
The fun just kept building !!! Thanks Mark, for helping me pick the Vette up and drive it back!!!
The Corvette is such a photogenic car. It just takes great pics.
Here's Tom. I surprised him when I picked him up with it at the airport. He had no idea! So we went and celebrated at TWIN PEAKS.
I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I don't do drugs... But I do love fine cars and motorcycles !
ELIO
